 ガラパゴスカッショクペリカンの頭に留まっている。エサの横取りを狙っているのかしら。

 サンタクルス島のフェリーターミナル付近でよく見かけたアジサシ。

ヨウガンカモメ Lava Gull

 目の周りが白い。　　They have white eye rings.

アカメカモメ Swallow-tailed Gull

 アオアシカツオドリやグンカンドリ に出会った島で、アカメカモメもいた。夜行性だそうです。

I saw Swallow-tailed Gull on North Seymour Island. It is the only nocturnal gull.

ニュウナイスズメ Russet Sparrow

 毎年、バスを降りると最初に歓迎してくれるのは、たいていニュウナイスズメ。

Almost every year, I see Russet Sparrow near the bus stop I get off.

 この日、たくさんのキビタキのオスに出会った。ジジと音を立てながら争うオスたちも何度か見ました。

センダイムシクイ Eastern Crowned Warbler

 旭川市の突哨山では、センダイムシクイの鳴き声がたくさん聞こえた。

コゲラ Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker

 巣穴をつつくコゲラがいた。しばらく眺めていると、

I found a Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker pecking at the tree. 

顔をのぞかせた。    The Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker entered its nest and looked at me.

ヤマゲラ Grey-headed Green Woodpecker

 カタクリの季節の終盤に突哨山を歩いていると、突然緑のキツツキがやって来た。ヤマゲラのメス。初めまして。

When I was walking on Toshozan in Asahikawa, a green woodpecker appeared. I saw Grey-headed Green Woodpecker for the first time in my life.

 目を閉じると、白いまぶた。　　　Their eyelids are white. 

地面に下りて、土をつつき始めた。　　The Grey-headed Green Woodpecker came down from the tree and started pecking the ground.

 ノース・セイモア島では、たくさんの若鳥がいました。
