ライチョウ Rock Ptarmigan

 ６月の室堂で、５カップル以上のライチョウたちに会いました。

I went to Murodo in Toyama Prefecture in the beginning of June. I saw more than five pairs of Rock Ptarmigan. 

 子育て前だから？　メスはひたすらモグモグ。

Female birds were eating a lot. It was just before breeding season.

 オスは辺りを警戒中。　　　　Male birds were watching out.

6月初旬は、雪がたくさん残っていました。　　　A lot of snow remained in early June.

カヤクグリ Japanese Accentor

 標高約2500mの立山室堂で、よく見かけた。 日本固有種。

I often saw  Japanese Accentor at Murodo in Toyama, about 2500m above sea level.

 地面の上を歩いたり、     They were walking on the ground.

雪の上を歩いていました。       They sometimes walk on the snow.

セグロセキレイ Japanese Wagtail

ハクセキレイに似ているけど、黒っぽい顔。日本固有種。

Japanese Wagtail is indigenous to Japan.

 たぶん、ハクセキレイの幼鳥。 This may be a young White Wagtail.

ハクセキレイ White Wagtail

 最もよく見かけるセキレイ。

White Wagtail is the most common Wagtail.

キセキレイ Grey Wagtail

 オスのキセキレイが一生懸命に鳴いていた。

A male Grey Wagtail was singing.

タヒバリ Water Pipit

  ビンズイによく似ている。 Water Pipit resembles Olive-backed Pipit.

ビンズイ Olive-backed Pipit

 地味な姿だけど、美しい声でさえずっていた。

Olive-backed Pipit was singing beautifully on the mountain.

アオゲラ Japanese Green Woodpecker

鳴きながらこちらに飛んで来て、近くの電柱に留まった。会いに来てくれてありがとう。

Japanese Green Woodpecker came towards me, and sat on an electric pole.

カタグロトビ Black-winged Kite

 赤い瞳が印象的。　They have red eyes.
