I saw Red-cheeked Myna in Teuri.

天売島で出会った、かわいい鳥。コムクドリのオス。

 Its beak is yellow. It must be a young Red-cheeked Myna.

くちばしが黄色い。ヒナが親を待っていた。

ウミネコ Black-tailed Gull

 天売島には、ウミネコもたくさん。　There were lots of Black-tailed Gull in Teuri.

 ケイマフリの親がヒナに運んで来るサカナを待っている？
This Black-tailed Gull might be waiting for Spectacled Guillemot’s parents holding fish.

ウトウ Rhinoceros Auklet

 オロロン鳥と泳いでいたり、　　　Common Guillemot and Rhinoceros Auklet

ケイマフリのサカナを、うらやましそうに見ていたり。
Rhinoceros Auklet were looking at Spectacled Guillemot holding fish.

天売島では、約40万つがいのウトウが、巣穴で子育てをしています。日没と同時くらいに親ウトウたちが一斉に巣に戻ってきます。

There were about 400000 burrows of Rhinoceros Auklet in Teuri Island. 

戻って来た親ウトウ。昨年と今年は、海流の影響でえさのサカナが減り、巣立つヒナが減っているとか。They came back thire burrow just after sunset.　　　　　　　2015年 7月　北海道 天売島

 夏はサイの角のような突起があります。　　
They have a horn-like extension on the beak in breeding season.

白黒の身体に、赤い足。なんとも可愛い！　天売島は、繁殖地のひとつ。

They have red legs.

口の中も赤い。頭の色が薄いので、親の帰りを待つヒナでしょう。

The mouth is also red. This bird might be a young Spectacled Guillemot, waiting for its parents.

目玉が並んでいるよう。英語名はSpectacled（メガネをかけた） Guillemot。

オオジシギ Latham’s Snipe

 初めて出会ったのは、2008年の天売島。何の音かと思ったら、急降下の音でした。今年、根室の電柱に留るオオジシギに再会。

I had seen Latham’s Snipe in Teuri Island in 2008 for the first time in my life. I saw Latham’s Snipe again in Nemuro last month.

ハギマシコ Rosy Finch

Rosy Finch migrate to Nemuro in winter.

冬の根室で出会ったのは、ハギマシコ。

 They have pink plumage.

ピンクの姿が、かわいい。
